In Him® I Am Whole

Complete in Christ ~ Nothing Missing, Nothing Lacking

“And in Christ you have been brought to fullness.” Colossians 2:10

I Am Whole ~ In Him

There is something deeply freeing about realizing that our wholeness is not something we have to manufacture for ourselves.

We live in a world that constantly tells us that we need something more.. more success, more approval, more possessions, more recognition, more achievement.

We can spend years trying to become the person we believe we need to be before we finally discover that our identity was never meant to be built on what we accomplish.

Our fullness is found in Christ.

Colossians 2:10 reminds us that in Christ, we have been brought to fullness. This does not mean that life will always feel perfect or that we will never experience brokenness, disappointment, weakness or seasons of uncertainty. It means that our relationship with Christ gives us a different foundation from which to live.

We don’t have to constantly prove our worth.

We don’t have to earn our place.

We don’t have to become someone else to be valuable.

In Him, we belong.

And because we belong to Him, we can begin to see ourselves differently.

Whole does not mean perfect.

It means that our identity is no longer defined by the pieces of our lives that feel unfinished.

There may be things God is still growing in us. There may be wounds He is healing, lessons we are learning and areas where our faith is still developing.

Becoming whole does not mean pretending those things aren’t there.

It means bringing all of ourselves to Christ.

The strong parts.

The broken parts.

The questions.

The dreams.

The past.

The present.

And even the parts of ourselves we don’t yet understand.

In Christ, we don’t have to hide.

We can come as we are and allow Him to transform us from the inside out.

Nothing Missing in Him

Sometimes we look at our lives and see what is missing.

But perhaps the better question is:

What do I already have because I am in Christ?

Grace.

Forgiveness.

A new identity.

A place to belong.

A reason to hope.

A relationship with God.

And the assurance that our worth does not depend on the world’s measurement of us.

Colossians 2:10 points us back to the source of our fullness:

Christ.

Not circumstances.

Not accomplishments.

Not other people’s opinions.

Christ.

That changes the way we see ourselves.

I don’t have to spend my life trying to fill an emptiness that Christ has already addressed.

I can grow without believing that I am worthless until I arrive.

I can change without believing that I am unacceptable as I am.

I can acknowledge my weaknesses without allowing them to become my identity.

I can continue becoming ~ while knowing that in Christ, I am already brought to fullness.

In Him® I Am Whole

Not because I have everything figured out.

Not because my life is perfect.

Not because I never struggle.

But because my identity, my worth and my fullness are found in Christ.

I am His.

I belong.

I am being transformed.

And in Him, I am whole.

A Reflection to Carry With You

When you feel incomplete, remember where your fullness is found.

When you feel like you aren’t enough, remember whose you are.

When you compare your life to someone else’s, remember that God is not asking you to become someone else.

And when you encounter the unfinished places within yourself, don’t run from them.

Bring them to Him.

Because our wholeness isn’t found in becoming everything the world says we should be.

It is found in knowing who we are in Christ.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Thank You that my identity is found in You.

Help me to stop measuring myself by the standards of the world and to see myself through the truth of Your Word.

Where I feel incomplete, remind me of Your fullness.

Where I feel broken, teach me to bring those places to You.

Where I feel that I am not enough, remind me that my worth does not come from what I achieve, but from belonging to You.

Continue to transform me, grow me and make me more like You.

Help me to live from the truth that in Christ, I have been brought to fullness.

In Him, I am whole.

Amen.
